CAMPING & MEALS

Students camp on the field and are required to bring their own camping gear (tent, mattress pad, sleeping bag, etc.). A list of equipment will be provided and there is a limited amount of loaner equipment for those who are in need.

Operations Director Tom Anderson and his wife (and instructor) Jen Stamp reside on the property and counselors sleep on the field with the campers each evening. In the event of an overnight electrical storm, campers move to the tower building for safety. Full (and separate) bathroom facilities with hot showers are located in the tower building, just steps from the field where the tents are pitched.

Ginny places an emphasis on providing delicious and nutritious meals to keep our campers and staff well fueled and satisfied. Breakfast is cooked to order and enjoyed during the morning ground school/daily briefing. Lunch is usually packed to eat on the flight line, with each camper grabbing a bite between their flights. The group comes together again in the evening to relax and enjoy a hot and hearty dinner, often with stories of the day’s adventures. Of course, there are plenty of snacks available and a yummy dessert every night! Most dietary restrictions and allergies can be accommodated with prior notice. Here are some sample menus:

Breakfast:

  • English muffin sandwich with egg and a choice of meat and cheese

  • Pancakes with a choice of blueberries or chocolate chips and real Vermont maple syrup (of course!)

  • Eggs cooked to order with toast and a side of sausage or bacon

  • Fresh fruit, bagels and cream cheese, juices, coffee & tea

Lunch:

  • Sandwich made to order with a variety of bread and filling options, whole fruit, potato chips

  • Plain or pepperoni English muffin pizzas, sliced watermelon

  • Meat or vegetarian sloppy Joes, fruit salad

Dinner:

  • BBQ chicken, potato salad, baked beans, mixed green salad

  • Taco Tuesday / build your own burrito bar with all the fixings

  • Spaghetti with vegetarian or meat sauce, mixed green salad, garlic bread

  • Hamburgers, veggie burgers & hot dogs, macaroni salad, watermelon, potato chips
