TYPICAL DAY

7:00 AM: WAKE UP

Grab a hot shower in the Tower Building and prepare for the day. Many campers wake early and congregate on the deck, enjoying the views of the Valley and the serenity of the airport before the bustle of the day.

7:30 AM: BREAKFAST

Head upstairs to the breakfast bar and place your order with Ginny. Will it be a hot off- the-grill egg sandwich or blueberry pancakes...or both? Join new friends in the classroom for ground school and the day’s flying briefing. Want seconds? They’re always available!

2022 camper Adam Valpey shot some videos during his week at camp. This is just a small sample of what happens at Sugarbush Soaring's Youth Soaring Camps.

9:00 AM: SOARING BEGINS

Jump in the golf cart and head down to the flight line. What will your first task of the day be? You may be launching a glider, or maybe you’ll be in charge of the day sheet. You’re looking forward to your first flight of the day – will you find some mountain wave today?

12:00 PM: LUNCH

Some days you’ll head back to the tower building for a hot lunch, but most days, like today, you’ll have a bag lunch on the flight line. The weather is perfect and the soaring is outstanding – who would want to break for lunch? You’ve ordered a sandwich prepared just the way you like it and you enjoy it on the grass while watching the airport operations. Give a high-five to your friend who just “greased the landing!”

Soaring ops continue, along with some cold lemonade and snacks to keep you going for the afternoon.

5:00 PM: WRAP UP

Time to wrap up for the day. You’ll help tie down the gliders and return equipment to the hangars before regrouping on the deck before dinner. Depending on the weather and the group’s preferences, you may head out for a swim at Blueberry Lake, play a round of ultimate Frisbee, or just relax in the late afternoon sunshine and reflect upon your day.

6:00 PM: DINNER

Ginny has cooked up a buffet of comfort food tonight: BBQ, mac ‘n cheese, baked beans, salad, and ice cream sundaes for dessert. It’s a clear night, so after dinner you head out for s’mores around the campfire. Stargazing in Vermont is unsurpassed and you enjoy it while you swap flying stories with your friends and instructors.

10:00 PM: LIGHTS OUT

It’s been a great day and you’re exhausted. Curl up in your cozy tent and look forward to another spectacular soaring day tomorrow!
